From sweet dishes such as sheera to spicy misal there are plenty of varieties. The speciality is that they are quickly made, for example Poha.
Most marathi fast food and snacks are lacto-vegetarian. Bhakri is really famous which is roti made of millet. It is served with zunka and onions. Its a delight and reminds of village life. One true maharashtrian if he lives away will always miss this tasty homemade food.
It is interesting to see that different regions within the states cook their own versions of dishes. Spices such as malwani masala, goda masala and kala masala plays a crucial role to add flavours to these dishes.
